Wesley - Wesley Newcomer Services - Resettlement Assistance Program
Under the national Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), the Government of Canada helps Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) when they first arrive in Canada by providing direct financial support, and funding the provision of immediate and essential services. Wesley delivers RAP immediate and essential services to clients generally within 4-6 weeks of arrival in Canada.
These services include:
- securing temporary accommodation
- assistance with locating permanent accommodation, and helping with moving preparations (including furniture and supplies)
- information about life in Canada, including healthcare, government and community services, housing, public transportation, Canadian laws and norms
- help with banking and budgeting
- support with learning about shopping
- assistance accessing healthcare

Referrals are made through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Contact for information.
