Affordable Home Ownership Program
The program provides financial assistance to qualified low-to-moderate income households. Funding is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis, in the form of a 20-year interest-free loan registered on title and up to 5% of the purchase price of an eligible home (current maximum purchase price is $425,000).

My Second Unit Program
Oxford County's My Second Unit helps homeowners plan and finance a secondary, self-contained dwelling unit in their home with an interest-free, forgivable loan of up to $30,000.

Affordable Home Ownership Program
If you are eligible to apply for the Affordable Home Ownership Program, you can print an application from our website at www.oxfordcounty.ca/humanservices. You can also call the County's Human Services Department at 519-539-9800 and ask us to email you an application package.* completed applications and ALL supporting material can be dropped off, emailed, or mailed to Rebecca Smith, Manager of Housing Development, Oxford County - Human Services, 21 Reeve Street, PO Box 1614, Woodstock, Ontario. N4S 7Y3.

Households must apply to participate in the program. As funds become available, eligible households will be contacted by mail and provided with a Conditional Letter of Commitment.

Eligibility

Affordable Home Ownership Program

Total household income before deductions is less than $117,000 a year * currently renting (rental receipt must be provided) * no rental arrears are owed, housing charges or damages to any other social housing program * total household assets are below $40,000 * no household member owns a property or has interest in a property * you are able to pay all closing costs and home inspection fee (if resale home) * you qualify for a mortgage

Age Requirements: Ages: 18 year(s) and up; At least one member of a household must be 18 years and older • each member of a household must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a refugee claim

My Second Unit Program:
If your application is successful, the loan amount is fully forgivable following a 10-year forgiveness period without default. * The second unit (apartment) is required to be rented at the Average Market Rent (AMR), as specified by the County, for the 10-year period. * Homeowners must own their home and it must be their primary residence during the 10-year forgiveness period. * Homeowners are required to rent to tenants with household incomes less than $92,700 (2022/23). * Funding may be used to cover the costs for municipal zoning verification or rezoning applications, building permits, and other permits as required. * Homeowners will be required to enter into a Standard Lease Agreement.
