Provide refugee claimants and those who are homeless with Supported Transitional Housing, settlement and immigration services.

Application

  • Initial Inquiry:Coll or email to express interest in the Supported Transitional Housing Program. Staff will provide basic information and answer any initial questions.
  • Eligibility Screening:A preliminary screening will be conducted to assess if the eligibility criteria for the program has been met, including housing needs, legal status and willingness to participate in support services.
  • Complete the Application Form:Once eligibility is confirmed, an application form will be provided. This may include details about financial status, current housing situation and personal background.
  • Submit Supporting Documents:Along with the application, supporting documents will be required. See the documents required field below for more information.
  • Interview:After submitting the application, and in-person or virtual interview will be scheduled. This interview allows staff to get to know the applicant better, understand their specific needs and explain how the program may support them.
  • Program Acceptance:If the application is successful, the applicant will be notified of their acceptance into the program. Staff will then work with the applicant to finalize the details of their stay and begin the process of providing the support and services needed
  • Ongoing Support:Once accepted to the program, applicants will have access to the Supported Transitional Housing program and related services including, life skills training, case management and assistance in finding permanent housing.
  • Eligibility

  • Refugee Claimants and Newcomers: Priority is given to those who have recently arrived in Canada are in need of support during their transition to permanent housing
  • Homeless or At-Risk of Homelessness:Individuals or families facing homelessness or living in unstable housing conditions are eligible for support
  • Willingness to Participate in Programs: Applicants must be open to participating in life skills programs, case management, and other supportive services aimed at fostering long-term stability
  • Commitment to Finding Permanent Housing:Participants must actively seek permanent housing during their stay in the transitional housing program
  • Income Eligibility: Applicants should demonstrate financial need and may be required to meet certain income criteria to qualify for assistance
  • Legal Status in Canada:Applicants must have legal status in Canada, such as refugee claimants, protected persons or individuals with other valid immigration statuses
