Eligibility

Apprentices
  • Individuals with minimum Grade 10 education for construction trades (employers may ask for higher education) or minimum Grade 12 education (unless otherwise defined by specific trade regulation) for industrial, motive power and hospitality trades
  • Must have an employer to supervise, train and pay their wages
Employers
  • Must be qualified to train and apprentice in the trade
  • Be able to provide structured training and supervision
  • Must pay wages according to regulations
Apprenticeship Scholarship Registered apprentices under 25 years of age who left school before completing the necessary academic requirements for registering in a trade, are committed to achieving the necessary academic requirements within one year, demonstrate an interest in the skilled trades, and are employed
Employer Signing Bonus
  • Must meet all the specific apprenticeship requirements to provide training in the trade, and hire and register an apprenticeship scholarship candidate as an apprentice
  • Must continue to employ the apprentice and provide on-the-job training for at least six months from the date that the apprentice was registered
