District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board - Homelessness Prevention Program
Provides financial assistance to individuals or families who are homeless or facing homelessness to obtain or maintain housing
To establish a new residence:
To establish a new residence:
- financial assistance for first and/or last months rent
- financial assistance for utility deposit
- financial assistance for moving expenses
- financial assistance for rent, mortgage, or property tax arrears
- financial assistance for utility and fuel arrears (gas, hydro, water, propane, oil or wood)
Application
- Individuals not receiving Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), call the HPP Intake Line for application
- Individuals receiving OW or ODSP will need to speak with their case manager for a referral
Eligibility
Individuals must reside in the District of Nipissing and:
- be at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness
- meet the income and asset criteria
- be moving to financially sustainable accommodations
- use available last month's rent from the current/previous address
- be able to verify all of the eligibility requirements
- not be seeking reimbursement
- be moving for employment or medical reasons if already housed
