Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is provided at many OCDSB locations throughout Ottawa
Levels available:
- classes are offered at Literacy and LINC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and includes preparation for the Citizenship Test
- in-person classes at all locations with online options as well
Levels available:
- basic
- intermediate
- advanced
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
- Academic Test Preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, CAEL, etc)
- Workplace English
- ESL for Hospitality, and for Home Renovation
- Listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and grammar
- current CLBs within the last year from any LINC or ESL class; or
- current Language Assessment from the YMCA Language Assessment and Resource Centre

Application
In-person registration for classes available at following locations:
- Ottawa Central Location: Albert Street Education Centre, 440 Albert St, Room 210 (Tue-Thu: 9 am-12 noon; 12:30 pm-3 pm)
- Ottawa East Location: Ottawa Technical Secondary School, 485 Donald St, Second floor, LINC/ESLOffice, Room 280 (Mon: 9 am-11:30 am) Please bring:
- Proof of address
- Permanent resident (PR) card or other immigration documents
- A copy of your most recent YMCA Language Assessment or your latest assessment from another school, if available
Eligibility
ESL: Ontario residents including Canadian citizens, refugee claimants and permanent residents who are 18 years and over and not attending a publicly funded secondary school
LINC: Permanent residents who are 18 years and older and reside in Ontario
LINC: Permanent residents who are 18 years and older and reside in Ontario
