Ottawa-Carleton District School Board - Family Reception Centre

Assist and support students wishing to enroll in grades 1-12 who have attended school outside of Ontario, in a language other than English and/or whose first or primary language is not English

  • assess students' academic strengths and weaknesses, educational history, exceptionalities, interests and goals, and issues that could affect schooling
  • meet with parents and students to answer questions and help to register for school
  • help families find additional support to adjust to life in Ottawa, by connecting with local agencies and community resources
  • provide resource materials to help educators to understand the needs of diverse students

Eligibility

Students under the age of 18 wishing to enroll in grades 1-12 who have attended school outside of Ontario, in a language other than English and/or whose first or primary language is not English * A study permit is required for students above the age of 18 * Refugees and children of parents who have a work or study visa must first contact the Admissions department
