Ottawa-Carleton District School Board - Continuing Education Department - Adaptive Learning Program

Program for adults with developmental disabilities

  • training for entry level jobs with attention to employability skills needed to prepare for employment or volunteer positions and further independence
  • individualized learning and employment plans

Targeted skills for the workplace include:

  • preparation for food service settings
  • preparation for office and library settings
  • preparation for greenhouse and plant maintenance

Call to arrange for a tour * intake appointments are made after the tour

Eligibility

Adults 21 years and older with developmental disabilities who are:

  • able to demonstrate a high level of independence

  • want to work or volunteer in the community

  • able to attend classes four days a week

  • able to work in a variety of environments and with different people and have the support of family and caregivers in finding employment or volunteer positions

  • able to function well in an unsupervised environment during lunch and breaks
