Women in Crisis Algoma Inc - Women's Emergency Shelter
Operates a 24-bed emergency shelter for women and children who have been affected by abuse and violence
Offers the following services:
- Advocacy
- Assistance in finding housing
- In-House Child Care
- Parenting Skills
- Short and Long-Term Counselling
Sexual Assault Centre
Crisis intervention and culturally sensitive counselling, supports and referrals
- a 24 hour telephone crisis line
- individual counselling and support groups
- legal support, advocacy, information, and referrals
- court support, accompaniment and advocacy program
- information on alternatives to legal justice system
- public education and training to end gender based violence in our community
- all services confidential
- Trans/ gender diverse positive environment
Application
Call, email or drop in; self-referral or third party referral, with consent; an intake process/appointment is generally required
Eligibility
Shelter: Women 16 years of age and older who have been physically, sexually, or emotionally abused and their children
Sexual Assault Centre: Survivors of sexual violence 16 years and older, as well as family members, non-offending partners and friends
