About Sudbury
Greater Sudbury is the largest city in Northern Ontario with a population of 158,000. It is located 388 km north of Toronto. Sudbury is a bilingual city with one of the largest Francophone populations in Canada outside of Quebec. Service in both English and French is generally available throughout the city.
Mining and related industries have traditionally dominated the economy. Over 345 mining supply and service companies are currently located in Sudbury, including a number focused on the research and development of new mining technologies.
Sudbury has expanded from a mining-based economy to establish itself in a variety of other industries, including finance, business, tourism, health care, education, government, film and television production, and science and technology research. Sudbury is also a regional service centre, providing many services to the entire region of Northeastern Ontario.
