York Region. Community & Health Services (Public Health) - Health Connection

Provide of up-to-date, accurate public health-related information to York Region residents, organizations and health care professionals. Public health professionals give confidential information on health-related topics, resources, services and community programs, including:
  • family health -- pregnancy, breastfeeding, maternal mental health, feeding babies and children, sleep, injury prevention, parenting
  • infectious disease -- disease outbreaks, vaccines, school immunizations and immunization records
  • sexually transmitted infections -- reports on sexually transmitted infections, post exposure of blood-borne infections
  • sexual health -- sexual health clinics, contraceptives, pregnancy tests
  • health protection -- food safety, safe water, rabies, West Nile virus, health hazards
  • dental health -- child and youth dental programs
Public health nurses provide confidential health teaching, parenting information and referrals for the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program, infant feeding clinics and perinatal mental health support, and are available via the Health Connection Toll Free line, or through online chat with a nurse
