YMCA of Greater Toronto - Newcomers - Language Assessment and Referral Centre, Etobicoke Albion Road Centre

Eligibility screening, language skills assessment and referral to English or French language government-funded programs which include:

  • programs include Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)/Cours de Langue pour les Immigrants au Canada (CLIC)
  • LINC Home Study/CLIC en ligne
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) programs/French as a Second Language (FSL)
  • Higher-Level Language Training (HLLT) such as Enhanced Language Training (ELT)/Cours de langue de niveau avancé (CLNA), Occupation-Specific Language Training (OSLT)/ la Formation linguistique axée sur les professions (FLAP), and Specialized Language Training (SLT)

Eligibility

Adults 18 years or older or with a high school diploma are eligible if they meet one of these criteria:
  • Canadian citizen born outside of Canada
  • permanent resident
  • Convention refugee/protected person
  • Refugee claimant
  • foreign domestic worker admitted under the Live-In Caregiver Program
  • person in Canada whose application for permanent resident status is being processed in Canada and has been informed by a letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) of the initial approval of their application
  • temporary worker or student who has obtained initial approval for a concurrent application for permanent residence
  • Persons with Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel document (CUAET)
  • Languages
